Hello, You’ve been quoted in Irish media as stating that there should be no border between Ulster and The Free State when the UK finally rids itself of the EU. Please stay well out of something you don’t really understand. This situation is a million miles different from Scandinavian inter-state and inter-cultural relationships. The North West of England is currently a tinder box waiting to explode violently. If Ulster became an open back door to more mass immigration into England then that would definitely break an already fractured situation into open riots and very possibly civil war. Your comments are not welcome right now. Have them sure, but keep them to yourself for now, the situation is far tenser and far more complicated than you understand. It’s not your culture and you haven’t got the full grasp of it you think you have. I don’t see you as yet another ‘Mouth of Sauron’ for Brussels/Berlin, but many will if you shoot from the hip in Ulster. SF will use any strategy to destabilise the U.K. They hate the UK with good reason but don’t be fooled. There’s open war, asymmetric war and the war of politics. An open border with no immigration controls doesn’t just affect the island of Ireland. It directly affects England, Scotland and Wales too because Ulster is in a union with them. The English right now are who you should be thinking of and how they’d react. Remember them? Built an Empire, war-like to the bone, VERY easily angered, burn down their own cities without compunction and anyone else’s too, and that’s just the population, their leaders are pure evil and always have been. The English are currently more ready for war than I’ve ever known them. Stop poking a hornet’s nest please, leave Ulster well alone, it’s hard enough for those of us born there to understand. SF don’t speak for a majority there and neither do the DUP. All the best.
Dear Daithi, thank you for writing to me. Can you send me a link with the article? I have not said or would never say that “there should be no border between Ulster and the Free State”. But what I have said is that it is possible to have a soft border between areas are inside and outside the EU. In Scandinavia we have countries inside and outside the EU and even in the kingdom of Denmark we have parts outside the EU. So what I said is that I beleive it is possible to find a solution. Switzerland is also a non member state and has a very soft border to the EU. I am actually half Norwegian and have been to Norway at least 100 times and last time I went there from Denmark there was no contral at all. It was like going inside Denmark. But Norway is not part of the EU. Even though we have soft borders between Denmark and Norway for instance it does not meen that Non-Nordic people can move from Denmark to Norway or the other way. We have both independant policies of miggration when it comes to Non-Nordic people. But once more thank you for telling me about the article and I would be greatful if you could mail it too lave@broch.dk than I will contact the news paper and correct what they wrote. I can also add that I wish for all of Denmark to leave the EU. All the best Lave
